HW represents New World Development in its joint venture with China Merchants Shekou to develop Northern Metropolis Project

Howse Williams (HW), a leading Hong Kong independent law firm, represents New World Development Company Limited, a longstanding client of the firm, in its joint venture with state-owned conglomerate China Merchants Shekou Group.  The companies will jointly develop a mixed-use project in the Northern Metropolis in the New Territories, with the residential component set to provide 2,000 flats.

 

According to news reports, the joint venture project will cover an area of approximately 150,000 square feet and will have a total buildable floor area of over 1 million square feet.  The development will integrate with Shenzhen and other cities in the Greater Bay Area.  

 

Alan Yip, Partner and Head of HW's Property Department said:

 

"We are excited to be involved in this joint-venture project to develop the Northern Metropolis which is expected to be a future growth area for Hong Kong.  Our dedicated property team will continue to provide legal services through to completion."

 

The sale and purchase agreement was signed in April 2024.  The transaction is scheduled to complete by the end of December 2024.
